Where to start this week
Half of the ten are under ₩10,000, so it’s an easy week to grab a few. But the end dates are all over the place, so the order you buy in is money. The Plucky Squire and The Messenger die first on Sep 10; Alina, Jotunnslayer and Split Fiction on Sep 13; the rest last past the 20th.
The ones you finish in one sitting
LIMBO (₩1,300) looks like a moody art game but it’s a puzzle you learn by dying, so it’s spicier than it looks. Sayonara Wild Hearts (₩6,900) is a two-hour rhythm ride — short and punchy. Untitled Goose Game (₩8,200) is a village-pestering comedy, and The Messenger (₩4,300) is retro pixel action. None of them are time-sinks; they’re perfect for an hour or two after work. Just note that co-op in Goose and Split is shared-screen, not online — check that if you’re buying to play with a friend.
For the brain
Alina of the Arena (₩8,820) stacks grid positioning on top of Slay the Spire-style deck-building, though people say the late game thins out — the final floor is 3 with few monster types. Jotunnslayer (₩16,800) is a Vampire Survivors-like: Diablo-heavy visuals, basic core, so veterans call it plain. Its saving grace is a steady stream of post-launch updates.
Split Fiction if you’ve got a partner
Split Fiction (₩38,350) has by far the deepest reviews this week. It’s co-op only, so you can’t even start solo — but with a partner, staging this good is rare at this price. Just remember it’s Switch 2 only on Nintendo — same goes for Jotunnslayer.
The two new releases — wishlist for now
DRAGON QUEST XI S (Sep 24) brings the 2019 Switch version back as a Switch 2-exclusive definitive edition, and Trails in the Sky 2nd Chapter (Sep 17) picks up straight from the 1st Chapter. Both are full price, not on sale, so for now this is a wishlist-and-wait slot. Trails especially has a barrier to entry if you skipped the first one, so mind the order.
