This post records the second October week of the Nintendo Switch eShop sale. The card prices above were eShop prices at the time, while the price chart lower on each game page is Steam (PC) — a different store. If you’re reading this later, the deals may be over, so treat what follows as a guide for what to pick first.
This was a week about how deep the cuts went. Among Us at ₩3,300, RUINER at ₩3,390, Unrailed! at ₩3,890, Warpips at ₩4,200 and Trek to Yomi at ₩4,400 — five games below the price of a coffee, three of them 85% off and one 80% off. Games that normally sit in the mid-to-high ₩20,000s landed around ₩4,000, so price alone doesn’t separate them. Instead we split the lineup three other ways: which store is cheaper, how many people it takes, and how long it runs.
All twelve of this week’s sale games are also on Steam, and when we checked Steam prices on October 13, seven of them were discounted there too. That splits three ways. Cheaper on Steam: Neva (Steam ₩8,600 vs eShop ₩10,750) and Astral Ascent (₩10,400 vs ₩12,600), with Unrailed! (₩3,600 vs ₩3,890), Wobbledogs (₩5,120 vs ₩5,220) and Celeste (₩5,370 vs ₩5,380) only a few hundred won apart. Same price: Among Us (₩3,300) and Warpips (₩4,200). On sale only on the eShop: RUINER, Trek to Yomi, Loddlenaut and ENDER MAGNOLIA, which were full price on Steam that day (₩21,500, ₩21,500, ₩20,900 and ₩27,000). Strike Force Heroes goes the other way — 30% off on the eShop at ₩21,980, but its regular Steam price is ₩21,500, so the “deal” wasn’t actually cheaper.
If you’ve already picked your platform, none of this matters. But Unrailed! is one game where paying a few hundred won more for the Switch version makes clear sense: one Switch, one screen, four players.
Two games only really work in a group. Among Us is a 4–15 player mafia game, so without people there’s little left, and Unrailed! is in a similar spot. A negative review after 6 hours warned: “Don’t buy it if you have no friends. Multiplayer is completely dead, so don’t even dream of it without friends.” So pick Unrailed! based on whether you have people to share a couch with, not online matchmaking. Astral Ascent holds up fine solo, but adds 2-player co-op on one screen — a 92-hour reviewer wrote that “it gets even more fun with a friend.” The other nine are built to be played alone from the start.
Starting short: one Loddlenaut review says “it took me about 5 hours 40 minutes to see the ending,” and a RUINER review notes, “That said, the playtime is shorter than you’d think. About 7 hours?” Trek to Yomi and Neva are also one-weekend games. ENDER MAGNOLIA sits in the middle — a 16-hour reviewer put it at “around 15 hours of playtime.” The long end is games with no fixed finish line. Celeste has a review of around 57 hours and around 17,000 deaths, a 171-hour Astral Ascent review says the top difficulty is right in front of them, and a 59-hour Wobbledogs reviewer wrote, “Got my first winged doggo after 30–40 hours.” Whether a game eats one weekend or several months is decided right here.
Trek to Yomi splits between style and gameplay. Almost everyone praises the black-and-white samurai-film look, but one negative review cut it short: “Nailed the black-and-white concept, but don’t expect much from the gameplay.” Neva splits most among people who played GRIS, because of expectations. A 3-hour reviewer wrote, “If you play this after GRIS you might be disappointed,” while someone who never played the earlier game wrote, “As a healing game, I feel it’s made well enough.” With ENDER MAGNOLIA, being easy is both the strength and the weakness. One review notes, “For people who’ve played a lot of this genre, the bosses might be a bit too easy,” and right after that adds, “Highly recommended for newcomers!” Many buy Strike Force Heroes for nostalgia, but a 136-hour negative review wrote of the AI: “Fighting AI is the main content, and the AI is a mess.”
FINAL FANTASY RESONANCE launches October 22, with separate Switch and Switch 2 versions at ₩62,800 each. A free demo is already out on both, and your save carries over to the full game — a rare new release you can try before you buy. The Witch’s Bakery is due October 14 but does not support Korean, and as of October 11, when we checked, it wasn’t listed on the Korean Nintendo eShop either. Wishlist it only if English text is fine for you.
This week again had repeat prices. Celeste at ₩5,380 and Warpips at ₩4,200 on the eShop match, to the won, the sale prices we recorded in our August episodes. Steam cycles back even more often: by our records, Celeste got the same discount again on Steam on August 28, October 2 and October 11, and Warpips on August 30, October 2 and October 13, with a few weeks at full price in between. The eShop runs long sales with long gaps between them, but if you missed one of these indies, a similar Steam price is likely to come back within a month or two. Each game’s price record is on its game page.
