Three survivors-likes here, and all three are different games

This is an archive of the Nintendo eShop sale from the third week of July 2026. The discounts have ended and the prices above are from that time.

This episode stopped at nine picks. A game can be in the sale and still not make it here if there’s no user reaction worth quoting. Nine honest picks beat ten padded ones.

How to choose between three of the same genre

Extremely Powerful Capybaras, Bloodshed and Mothered all landed as survivors-likes. Same genre, different products.

Capybaras sells atmosphere. The image of the world’s most relaxed-looking animal picking up a gun is the value proposition.

Bloodshed sells firepower — miniguns and rocket launchers in a medieval setting, grinding everything down. If you want catharsis, it’s here.

Mothered sells transformation. Mutations change your body and therefore how you move, so it varies most between runs.

Solo versus together splits this list

Swordsman (up to 4) and Deadzone Rogue (3) are co-op at heart. The three survivors-likes above and Virtua Fighter 5, by contrast, are made for short solo sessions.

On volume, Yakuza Kiwami 1 & 2 dominates. As a two-game bundle it’s the only entry here that becomes “the thing you play for a while.”

This episode had a deliberate do-not-buy slot

Detective Dotson looked good and was 75% off, but at the time its Korean translation was broken, making the text a mystery game depends on hard to read. We kept it on the list precisely because buying on price alone would have cost you.

It may have improved since, so check the store page’s supported languages and recent reviews before deciding.

If you’re looking at this now

The price records on this site are Steam-based. For Yakuza in particular the eShop product is the Kiwami 1 & 2 bundle while the Steam entry may be a standalone, so don’t compare the two figures side by side. Buying on Switch? Confirm on the eShop.
