Three of the twelve discounted games cost under ₩3,000. Left 4 Dead 2 and Portal 2 are ₩2,200 each, and Ori and the Will of the Wisps is ₩2,990. All three are rated Overwhelmingly Positive on Steam, and Left 4 Dead 2 has over a million ratings. These aren’t cheap because they’re old — this is the week proven classics dropped to the price of a coffee.
At the other end sit popular games stuck at 30–40% off: Stardew Valley at 30%, SANABI at 35%, How to Fish at 38%, and Pummel Party, RV There Yet?, BlazBlue Entropy Effect and Ghost of Tsushima Director’s Cut at 40%. On discount depth alone they lose out, but by ratings and playtime they’re the real heart of this week. Every sale ends October 8, and prices are as of video production.
There are six games here you play together, and they’re all different — so decide how many people you can gather first.
Two players: Portal 2. It has a dedicated 2-player co-op campaign where the puzzles have to be split between you. The better you communicate, the more fun it gets.
Three players: For The King. A turn-based game where three people travel a board-like map as one party, so there’s time to chat while you wait your turn. One failed roll can wipe the party, though, so it suits friends who are forgiving about luck.
Four players: Left 4 Dead 2, RV There Yet? or How to Fish. All three support up to four in co-op, but they feel completely different. Left 4 Dead 2 is a shooter about holding back endless zombie hordes, RV There Yet? has four people driving and hauling a single RV home together, and How to Fish is about catching fish on an island, buying gear and moving on to the next island.
Five or more, or you want to compete: Pummel Party. Up to eight players sabotage each other on a game board — the only one of the six where your friends are the enemy.
The solo games split by how busy your hands are.
The busiest are SANABI, BlazBlue Entropy Effect and Ori and the Will of the Wisps. All three are 2D action games, but SANABI is about the speed of swinging on a chain, BlazBlue about each character’s combos, and Ori about precise platforming. If you want a story too, go with SANABI; if you’d rather play in short runs, the roguelike BlazBlue fits better.
The long-haul games are Stardew Valley, Hogwarts Legacy and Ghost of Tsushima Director’s Cut. Stardew Valley is open-ended farm life, while Hogwarts and Ghost are 3D open worlds. Between those two, choose Ghost for weighty sword-parry combat, or Hogwarts if you mainly want to wander the world.
When we covered Hogwarts Legacy at the end of August, it was the same ₩7,980. The same 90% discount came back after about a month, so if you missed it last time this is your second chance — and if you’re on the fence, it’s a record that this is a recurring sale price for the game.
It’s rated Very Positive, but Korean reviews often praise the recreation of the castle and village while regretting the repetitive collectibles. One player with 96 hours wrote that the recreation of Hogwarts and Hogsmeade is excellent — and still left a negative review. If walking around the Wizarding World is the goal, it’s plenty; if you want depth as an action game, Ghost is the better pick.
Left 4 Dead 2, Portal 2, Ori and the Will of the Wisps, For The King and Hogwarts Legacy are 80–90% off — deep enough discounts that buying this week is unlikely to leave regrets.
The 30–40% group is a different story. These are highly rated games on light discounts, so if you’re not in a hurry, waiting for a big Steam seasonal sale is an option. If you want to play right now, they’re still cheaper than full price this week.
Stupid Never Dies (October 21) is a B-movie-flavored zombie action RPG. The weakest zombie around eats enemies and transforms into a werewolf, harpy or golem as he descends through a dungeon. It’s the first game from the studio founded by Hiroyuki Kobayashi, former producer of Devil May Cry and Dragon’s Dogma, after he left Capcom.
Phantom Blade Zero (October 28) is the serious one: dark wuxia action starring a swordsman with only 66 days left to live. It was originally due September 9 but was delayed to polish its graphics and environments. Neither has reviews yet, so wishlist them now and decide after launch reactions come in.
Solo players, be careful with the co-op games. RV There Yet? splits driving and winching between players, so it’s rough alone, and while Pummel Party has bots, the fun is in messing with your friends.
Steam Deck players: Ori and the Will of the Wisps, For The King, Pummel Party and SANABI are rated Playable. The rest of the discounted games are Steam Deck Verified.
BlazBlue Entropy Effect gets brutally hard at high difficulty. One player with 23 hours left a negative review after getting crushed again and again on the highest difficulty. It’s fine for casual runs, but if you plan to master it, be prepared.
