This post is the record of our fourth-week September Nintendo Switch eShop sale episode. The prices on the cards above are eShop prices from that week, while the price graph further down each game page is Steam (PC) — different stores entirely. If you’re reading this later the deals may be over, so treat the notes below as a guide to what kind of time you want to spend.
Grouping these ten by genre says nothing — there’s a puzzler, a platformer, a racer, a hunting action game and a courtroom mystery all sitting together. What does apply to all of them is how much time one sitting costs you. The range runs from “done in two hours” to “hundreds of hours is the baseline,” so settling that question before the price tag saves the most regret.
Both roll credits in three or four hours. You’re watching something more than playing it. Each has one catch for Korean-speaking players, though. Figment lives on its music, but the Korean localization is rough: of 98 Korean reviews, 31 are negative, and most of those point at the text. At ₩1,000 you’re not losing anything, but this isn’t the one you play for the story. Behind the Frame is the opposite problem — the free DLC is what completes the story, and that DLC is exactly why the top Korean reviews are negative. Go in expecting pure comfort and it will not land that way. Want something that lingers, take Behind the Frame; want something for your ears, take Figment.
All three have short rounds. The kind of fatigue they leave is opposite, though. LYNE is pure head work, and with stages A through Z plus a daily puzzle it effectively never ends — it’s the safest pick here for one round before bed. ALTF4 has no save feature at all, so the round isn’t short so much as it ends abruptly. Neon White’s stages are thirty seconds each, but the moment you start chasing medals you’ll run the same stretch dozens of times. If you’re booting something up to calm down, only LYNE qualifies; the other two are precisely the opposite.
From here you need to set time aside. Manifold Garden runs around eight hours, and getting lost is the design, so a weak sense of direction doubles the load. Bang-On Balls is collect-’em-up across four worlds and is the only game in this lineup four people can play together — though reviewers note everyone scatters, so it feels less like co-op and more like sharing a room. Ace Attorney Trilogy has the longest arc at fourteen episodes. It’s reading rather than reflexes, which makes it great lying down, and that’s where it fits the Switch best.
Neither of these is about clearing anything. MONSTER HUNTER RISE at ₩5,600 is the best number on this list, but the base game alone runs into the hundreds of hours, and the Sunbreak expansion is a separate purchase. CarX keeps you on its online servers indefinitely. In exchange, complaints about crashes and loading are persistent, so don’t expect a racer that just quietly works. For these two in particular, budget your time before your money.
The end dates were all over the place. CarX expired first, on September 27th, Behind the Frame on the 29th, ALTF4 and Neon White on the 30th, and the rest scattered between October 6th and 12th. If Ace Attorney Trilogy caught your eye, note that the Ace Attorney Investigations Collection and the Apollo Justice: Ace Attorney Trilogy were on sale in the same event — a rare window to collect the series in one go. Finally, all ten support Korean and run on the original Switch; there are no Switch 2 exclusives in this batch.
