A good week if you were after blockbusters
This is an archive of the Steam sale from the second week of July 2026. The discounts have ended, and the prices above are what we observed at the time.
The character was clear: not a week for picking up coffee-money indies, but one where older blockbusters hit floor pricing all at once. Nine of the ten had list prices above ₩20,000, and three of those were cut by more than 90%.
Three open worlds, played in opposite ways
Watch Dogs 2, Red Dead Redemption 2 and Kingdom Come: Deliverance II shared this list. All open worlds; none ask the same thing of you.
Watch Dogs 2 treats the city as a toy. The fun is scheming about what to break with a hack, which makes it the lowest-commitment of the three.
Red Dead Redemption 2 does the opposite — it makes you walk slowly. Movement is deliberate and scenes are long, so start it when you have time to give.
Kingdom Come: Deliverance II is the most demanding. Needing to eat, and being disliked if you don’t wash, is both the appeal and the barrier.
Want something to roam in casually over a weekend? Watch Dogs 2. Want to sink into one work? Red Dead Redemption 2.
Busy hands versus quiet ones
The demands vary sharply inside one list. Devil May Cry 5 and Ace Combat 7 only pay off if your hands keep up, while Darkest Dungeon taxes your head instead — managing stress and madness meters.
By contrast, Euro Truck Simulator 2 and Stray are nearly failure-free. If you haven’t played anything in a while, start with those two.
Things you’ll reuse for years, and things you’ll finish once
Sales pay off most on games you pull out again years later. Here that’s Plague Inc: Evolved, Euro Truck Simulator 2 and Planet Zoo — short sessions or no ending at all, so they stay in rotation.
Stray, by contrast, gives you little reason to reopen it once finished. That isn’t a criticism — just the expectation to buy it with.
If you’re looking at this now
These blockbusters tend to return at similar depths every summer and winter sale. Rather than paying full price today, check the price record on each game page and wait for a comparable window.
