This week’s Switch picks, just the keepers (from ₩2,880)

A week where no two genres overlapped

Last episode was all roguelikes; this time it’s the opposite — nearly all nine picks sit in different genres. Psychedelic horror, bullet-hell farming, spaceship management, interactive fiction, live-action FMV, Soulslike-style action, stealth horror, recursive puzzles, and a physics sandbox. So rather than hunting for “the best one,” it works better to decide what you’re in the mood for first.

Short to finish, long to linger — Happy Game, and Roger, Love Is All Around

These three are about following a story more than working the controls, and all of them are short. Happy Game and and Roger both reach their endings in about two hours. The difference is temperature. Happy Game deliberately cranks up the discomfort and flashes a lot, so skip it if you’re photosensitive. and Roger is a quiet story where the controls themselves express emotion, and it’s Switch 2 only, so check your hardware first. Love Is All Around has you pick choices while watching live-action footage — closer to watching a show than playing a game — and its endings branch over six chapters, which gives you a reason to replay.

Two ways to squeeze you with fear — Happy Game vs Little Nightmares II

Both run on eerie atmosphere, but they scare you differently. Happy Game pushes anxiety through color and staging on a 2D screen, while Little Nightmares II tightens the tension with chases and hiding in 3D space. Little Nightmares II is well proven with over 50,000 reviews, but complaints about its 3D camera controls keep coming up. If control frustration gets to you, Happy Game is the easier ride.

Games that keep your hands busy — Atomicrops, Darksiders III, Space Crew

All three keep you moving, but in different ways. Atomicrops is multitasking — farming and bullet hell at once — and as a roguelite with short runs, it’s great in small doses. Darksiders III is a reaction battle of reading and dodging attacks, the kind you sink long sessions into; just keep in mind there’s no minimap and players call the Korean translation awkward. Space Crew is real-time management where placement decisions matter more than reflexes, making it a fit if twitchy combat isn’t your thing.

Solo or together?

This lineup is almost entirely single-player. If you want something to play with friends or family, Wobbly Life is essentially the only pick, and it supports both online and local co-op. If you want a puzzle to chew on alone for a long time, Patrick’s Parabox is the one — it has no artificially brutal stretches and feeds you new rules a little at a time, so it’s approachable even if puzzles aren’t usually your thing.

Two new releases — double-check the dates

In the video we introduced Rayman Legends Retold as launching October 1, but it has since been delayed to December 3. Dragon’s Dogma 2: Dark Arisen is the complete edition arriving on Switch 2 for the first time on October 9, bundling the base game with expansion content. The original split players over travel and optimization, so it’s safest to wait for impressions of the Switch 2 version’s performance after launch.
