Three co-op games, three different party shapes
This is an archive of the Nintendo eShop sale from the fourth week of August 2026. The discounts have ended and the prices above are from that time.
Three entries under ₩4,000 made this easy to buy into, but the real question wasn’t price — it was whether you can play alone.
Two / four / four (but different)
Shift Happens is really about two people taking one blob each. You can control both yourself, but the design has the two trading size and weight, so it becomes a completely different game with a partner.
Ember Knights supports four running the same dungeon together, each building their own loadout — the screen gets busier with every extra player.
TMNT: Splintered Fate is also four, but differently. The turtles differ in basic attacks, specials, health and passives, so choosing a character is already role assignment.
Playing alone? Set those three aside. What’s left is Super Meat Boy, Brotato, Moncage, Shieldwall and The Wandering Village.
Session length swings to both extremes
Brotato’s waves run twenty seconds to a minute — the easiest thing here to play in fragments.
The Wandering Village, by contrast, is a management sim on the back of a giant creature; once you sit down it runs long. Even within one sale, some of these fill a gap in your day and others need the day cleared.
Hardest on the hands
Super Meat Boy has no health and no attacks — just running and jumping. It’s the hardest thing here, but death restarts you instantly where you stood, making it a retry rather than a punishment. Knowing that changes the experience considerably.
If you’re looking at this now
Shift Happens has no Korean support. It’s a puzzle game with almost nothing to read, though, so it won’t block progress.
For low-list-price games like Brotato, the absolute cost is already small even at a shallow discount, so waiting purely for a bigger percentage isn’t worth much.
Moonlighter 2 and Onimusha at the bottom were unreleased then; both launched in September, so reviews are available now.
